I inquired about a new Accord at St.Louis Honda and was given a fair price.So far so good.
I figured I would contact at least one other dealer so I wouldn't feel like I was just falling over for the first dealer. I called Meyer Honda in O'Fallon Il. I got the exact same price from them but Meyer gave me a 100,000 mile powertrain warrany upgrade instead of the 60,000 mile warranty free. They also gave me mud flaps, pinstripes and rubber floor mats but that's not all.
I found out that if I live in Missouri and buy a car in Illinois I'll only pay 4.225% sales tax when I register the car in Missouri. That made the Illinois car 788 dollars less plus all the extras the Illinois dealer was giving me. I called St.Louis Honda back and asked them if they could match the deal and the salesman told me the guy at Meyer was lying and that the whole deal would change once I got there. As it turns out the guy at St.Louis neglected to tell me his price did not include the destination charge and the car would be 800 more than his original quote.
I bought from the Illinois dealer and fulfilled every promise they made with no hesitation and I paid about 1400 less when it was all said and done.Make the trip to O'fallon and talk to their internet manager.
